        Our hiring philosophy at Eight Black is simply this, we don’t care where
you live, where you went to school, what degree you have or don’t have.
        And we don't care if we have to be coached to pronounce your name.
We simply believe in people, outstanding people. People who find it easier to
say why not, rather than why.
        To begin, email us a file containing any amount of code you consider is
good. Code can be in any language, written by you, or not. In your email,
include three reasons why you believe the code to be good, and above the
everydayness of more common script.
        The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate the following
qualities in our eyes.
        1. Strong knowledge of procedural programming methods and standard
algorithms.
        2. Knowledge of object-oriented programming techniques.
        3. Familiarity with UNIXlike operating systems, especially BSD derivatives.
        4. Familiarity with best practice web development.
        5. Understanding of source-control concepts.
        6. Ability to adapt quickly to different languages and also environments,
making use of online documentation and other resources.
        7. Competence in any procedural language, and also some knowledge of
XHTML. A handle on CSS would be considered a plus.
